Field Facts
FIELD FACT #1
Cost - The two turf fields we are planning will cost between $1.1 million and $1.3 million. It's highly cost-effective to install two at same time.
FIELD FACT #2
Timing - Our plan is to complete fundraising by this spring - 2008 - so construction can begin this summer. It's an aggessive goal, but we can do it.
FIELD FACT #3
Turf will turn our main “football” field into a multi-purpose field which will enable field hockey, soccer, band rehearsals, and additional physical education programs to use the field.
FIELD FACT #4
Turf can be used continuously in practices and games, regardless of weather conditions because of its rapid drainage system.
FIELD FACT #5
One turf field can provide the same play capacity as six grass fields when used to its full capacity – two will be equivalent to twelve fields.
FIELD FACT #6
Maintenance of turf fields is fractions less than that of grass fields – this will in turn save tax payers money each year.
FIELD FACT #7
Most schools in our conferences have turf fields or are in the process of installing them including: Mountain Lakes, Morristown, Madison, Chatham , Summit, Mt. Olive and Parsippany Hills.
FIELD FACT #8
The articifical turf product proposed for Mendham High School fields is not the same material that has led to recent closings of older installations in New Jersey. The vendor offering the product under consideration for WMMHS assures us that their product is100% lead-free and microbial treated.
